With Quinn Ewers rehabilitating from his injury, Arch Manning got his first game as the starting QB of the Longhorns in the week 4 showdown against the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks. Last week, the redshirt freshman put up an impressive display of skills during the Longhorns 56-7 victory against UTSA where he passed for 223 yards with four TD passes.
In Saturday's game against the Warhawks, Arch Manning again displayed his talents. He managed to put Steve Sarkisian and his team on the front foot by scoring two TD passes in the first quarter of the game. However, Manning also threw two interceptions in the first half, which led to Skip Bayless commenting on social media.
In a tweet Bayless posted on X, he had a critical take on Manning's first career start for the Longhorns. He called out the Texas QB for throwing two interceptions against the Warhawks at the Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.
"Wait, Gateway Arch Manning has thrown 2 interceptions...at home... against Louisiana-MONROE?"
Fans took to social media to share their thoughts and perspectives on Skip Bayless's take on Arch. One fan called out the sports columnist for always hating on players.
"Your always on hate mode."
Another fan had a rather interesting reply to Bayless' salty comments.
"Take my QBs name out yo MF mouth Skip."
This fan pointed out that Arch's performance against Louisiana-Monroe does not matter a lot since it is like a 'practice game.'
"Who cares Skip it's a practice game. Oct 19 they will finally play a real team."
One fan stated that Skip Bayless is thrashing Arch Manning because of his last name.
"And yet Texas is winning. He still has great stats. What's your point? Taking a shot because his name is Manning?"
This fan pointed out that Bayless should worry more about the fact that the Oklahoma Sooners are getting dominated by the Tennessee Volunteers at home.
"One off the RBs hands and plent of great throws all day. Worry about OU getting beaten old man."
Arch Manning's 2024 stats so far
After serving as a third-string QB last season, Arch was named as Quinn Ewers' backup for Texas' debut SEC campaign this year. And so far including today's showdown against the Warhawks, he had made three appearances for the Longhorns.
Excluding today's game, Arch has put up decent stats this season. He has managed 318 passing yards and five TD passes while rushing for 53 yards and two touchdowns.
With Quinn Ewers set to return for Texas' next game, it will be interesting to see if Steve Sarkisian provides Arch Manning with more playing time as the season progresses. He is set to be Ewers' successor once he declares for the draft next year.
