Pilar Sanders has been quite active this 2024 college football season. Lately, her Instagram posts have revolved around her son, Shilo Sanders, who redeemed himself against the Arizona Wildcats in Week 8 after a "horrible" outing in Week 7 against the then-No. 18 Kansas State Wildcats.
Coach Prime's ex-wife and Shilo have shared numerous moments on and off the field. In April 2023, the Colorado safety spent a day with his mother and recorded it to share on his channel. Right at the start of the video, he had an intriguing question for Pilar regarding his name.
"So mother how did you come up with the name Shilo," the safety said.
"Oh my gosh! I always knew that I was gonna name you Shilo," Pilar replied.
"But Dad said he named me though," Shilo asked.
It was then that Pilar, rolling her eyes, said:
"Your dad didn't name any of you."
Shilo couldn’t have laughed harder upon hearing this. He then said to her mother:
"You act like he didn't have a say-so though.”
To which Pilar replied:
“Honey child he didn't I grew you in my tummy... He really wanted to name all of you after him." [00:20]
Deion Sanders has five children, two with his first wife, Carolyn Chamber, who shares his first name—Deiondra Sanders (his firstborn) and Deion Sanders Jr. (his eldest son). He shares three children with Pilar Sanders, and all started their names with the letter "S": Shedeur, Shilo, and Shelomi Sanders.
Pilar Sanders gets defensive for Shilo after Week 7 game
Shedeur and Shilo’s mother had high hopes for the Buffaloes in their matchup against Kansas State in Week 7. In a vlog on her channel, PilarSandersTV, she was confident that Shilo would have an extraordinary game with not one but three picks.
"My boys are gonna have an amazing evening ... Shilo can do it," Pilar said. [00:40]
However, the game didn’t go as planned, with Colorado falling 31-28 and Shilo struggling on the field. After the loss, Pilar was playfully teased about her bold prediction. Despite the outcome, she quickly defended her son, reminding viewers that Shilo was still recovering from a forearm injury.
"We'll leave that alone. Shilo's just coming back. Trying to get his legs underneath him a little bit. There's no way we should have lost to Kansas," Pilar added.
While the game didn’t meet her expectations, she was ecstatic about Shilo’s bounceback in Week 8.
