“Your women’s basketball team had more to do with it”: Fans mock Cam Ward for getting credit for Carson Beck’s move

Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck entered the transfer portal on Thursday. He did so after being forced to miss the College Football Playoff after injuring his elbow in the SEC Championship Game. However, his time in the transfer portal did not last long as he announced on Friday that he would transfer to the Miami Hurricanes.

After the announcement, Canes Corner wrote an article about how quarterback Cam Ward deserves credit for making Miami a premier destination for quarterbacks. Ward transferred to Miami this season and finished as a Heisman Trophy finalist.

While Ward had a great season, some fans pointed out that Beck didn't decide to transfer because of him. They pointed out that because Beck's girlfriend, Hanna Cavinder, is a star player on the Miami basketball team, he picked Miami.

"Buddy let’s get back to playing in a conference championship game before we build the statue for your one hit wonder," one fan tweeted.

"The guy's girlfriend goes to school there and lives there. I think that had a little bit more to do with it. However, Carson Beck isn’t good, and not a lot of schools were offering what Miami was, sooo," one fan tweeted.

"If Hanna Cavinder went to another school, that’s where Beck would be going. Nothing to do with Cam Or Cristobal," one fan tweeted.

"I have a feeling Becks' girlfriend was more a factor than Cam Ward," one fan tweeted.

Carson Beck joins Miami for his final season of NCAA eligibility

After a strong season with the Georgia Bulldogs, Carson Beck has joined the Miami Hurricanes for his final season of NCAA eligibility. Beck had spent the previous four seasons in Georgia, and the last two as the starter.

This past season, Beck completed 290 of 448 passing attempts for 3485 yards and 28 touchdowns. He was criticized for the number of interceptions he threw (12). However, after the loss to Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff quarterfinals, it became more apparent how critical Beck was to the success of the Bulldogs this year.
