Nick Saban has inspired generations through his speeches and outlook on life. One of the most successful college football coaches, during a football camp in June 2013, imparted lessons on character, discipline and success.
The former Alabama Crimson Tide coach who dominated college football during his 17-year sting in Tuscaloosa talked about how athletes should approach the game and life itself. He told the athletes that character is an accumulation of one's thoughts, habits and priorities, elaborating:
"It doesn't matter how good you are. It matters however good you are we're going to get you bette. r… and it starts with who you are what kind of person are you. … It's also important that you have the kind of character and attitude that you need to be better at. [2:00]
“What you do now this is what character is to me… it's an accumulation of your thoughts your habits and your priorities.”
He advised a no-nonsense approach he has tried to live by all his life. Saban didn't stop there. His advice? Be accountable, dependable and disciplined because those choices make or break who you are.
"Discipline is doing what you're supposed to do when you're supposed to do it, the way it's supposed to get done.” [03:00]
Earlier this year, Saban hung up his coaching boots after a historic career that culminated in an SEC Championship win against Georgia.

Nick Saban speaks out at injury faking precedent being set in college football
The former Alabama coach spoke about the growing controversy of players faking injuries during college football games. Saban, now an analyst on ESPN’s "College GameDay," delivered a blunt critique, calling it a move that compromises the integrity of the sport.
He pointed out how teams increasingly use injury flops to slow down high-tempo offenses, a tactic many believe has become more prevalent this season. He believes that injuries should be taken seriously, and the current trend of feigning them for strategic gains is crossing a line.
The legendary coach called for a "flop rule," suggesting a penalty or charged timeout when players fake injuries.
