Despite a brilliant season, the Ole Miss Rebels are still losing some players to the transfer portal. Lane Kiffin's team faces the same inevitable players-in, players-out shuffle as the rest of the sport. Noreel White has indicated that he plans to enter the portal and the freshman athlete will be a highly-regarded portal addition.
White was a four-star in-state recruit for the Rebels. On Ole Miss's loaded team, he played briefly as a true freshman, catching two passes for 34 yards. White only played in a pair of games, so he will retain his redshirt season and have a full four seasons of portal eligibility. Here are five schools he might consider.
Noreel White transfer portal: Top 5 landing spots
5. Auburn
The Tigers have been active in the portal and White would be a banner pickup. Auburn recruited White out of high school, so there is some prior history. Top receiver KeAndre Lambert-Smith was a senior and White would complement sophomore-to-be Cam Coleman and give Auburn a great one-two receiving punch.
4. UNLV
Dan Mullen will throw the football. UNLV already won 10 games and adding the high-profile Mullen as their next coach ensures both attention and tons of passes. The Rebels recruited White out of high school and if he wants to try again far from home, UNLV could be an ideal destination. While these Rebels lack the gravitas of the SEC Rebels, it doesn't mean UNLV wouldn't fit White.
3. Mississippi State
There's always this card. Few players end up on both sides of the Egg Bowl rivalry, but for a Mississippi athlete, there's the possibility of playing for both the Rebels and Bulldogs. State had a miserable 2-10 season and would undoubtedly welcome almost any impact player. White would be an immediate standout in their receiver room and would grab all the playing time he could want.
2. Florida State
Speaking of schools on the decline after 2-10 seasons and badly in need of receivers, there's Florida State. Early in White's recruitment, the Seminoles were the acknowledged leader. While things changed, the attraction of FSU for White could still be tangible. Florida State must invest in improvement and have plenty of talent to jumpstart an ACC climb.
1. Arkansas
White committed to Arkansas early in the recruiting process and some thought he would end up with the Hogs even after he decomitted. With a year of college football under his belt, White might elect to head to Arkansas after all. The Razorbacks' top two receivers were seniors, and they can use help.
While Arkansas has been aggressive in the portal at the wide receiver slots, some players fill a need and can't be turned down. White would probably fit both categories, so don't be surprised if Arkansas ends up signing him for 2025.
