The North Carolina Tar Heels welcomed the Pittsburgh Panthers in Week 6 of the 2024 college football season on Saturday. The game began at noon ET from Kenan Stadium in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

North Carolina vs. Pittsburgh game summary
The Pittsburgh Panthers opened the scoring in the first quarter when Ben Sauls made a 24-yard field goal. However, the Tar Heels responded when defensive back Kaleb Cost intercepted a pass from Holstein and turned it into an 85-yard interception return for a touchdown. Noah Burnette converted the extra point to give North Carolina a 7-3 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The Panthers then took the lead in the second quarter when Holstein threw a 7-yard TD pass to Censere Lee. Sauls converted the extra point. UNC drew level when Burnette made a 34-yard field goal.
Pittsburgh regained the lead when Holstein connected with Raphael Williams Jr. on a 30-yard touchdown pass. Sauls converted the extra point. However, the Tar Heels were equalized again under a minute before halftime when Omarion Hampton rushed for a 3-yard TD and Burnette converted the extra point. The score was 17-17 at halftime.
The Panthers opened the scoring in the second half when Holstein made a 2-yard TD pass to Desmond Reid. Sauls converted the extra point.
UNC struck back again when John Copenhaver caught an 11-yard TD pass from Criswell. Burnette converted the extra point and the score was tied at 24-24 after the third quarter.
Holstein opened the scoring in the fourth quarter by rushing for a 3-yard touchdown to put Pittsburgh back in front. Sauls converted the extra point. Sauls then made a 37-yard field goal to give the Panthers some breathing room.
Pittsburgh eventually won 34-24.
