Sometimes, making yourself appear as a top talent will help people feel that way, and that is what happened to a degree with Colorado Buffaloes two-way player Travis Hunter. Despite not playing in Week 10, Hunter jumped in the 2024 Heisman Trophy odds to second.

When talking to the team in a meeting, CU coach Deion Sanders glowed about two-way star Travis Hunter and his appearance on ESPN's "College GameDay" during the week off.

"Now, he's a top dog for the Heisman. ... The exposure he was able to garnish, speaking on camera eloquently, dressed appropriately and taking care of his brand," Sanders said. "Not going up there saying crazy stuff, looking crazy and acting crazy. And your off-the-field and your school coincides with that."

Travis Hunter has looked impressive on the field as the junior has 60 receptions for 757 yards (12.6 yards per catch) with eight touchdowns as a wide receiver. On the defensive side of the field, he has 20 total tackles (13 solo, seven assisted) with one forced fumble and a pair of interceptions.

Will Travis Hunter be able to secure the 2024 Heisman Trophy?

The 2024 Heisman Trophy odds are intriguing heading into Week 11 of the college football season.

Here are the top 10 odds via DraftKings Sportsbook on Monday:

  1. Cam Ward, Miami: +200
  2. Travis Hunter, Colorado: +220
  3. Dillon Gabriel, Oregon: +290
  4. Ashton Jeanty, Boise State: +500
  5. Jaxon Dart, Ole Miss: +1600
  6. Kurtis Rourke, Indiana: +2200
  7. Shedeur Sanders: Colorado: +3500
  8. Jalen Milroe, Alabama: +5000
  9. Quinn Ewers, Texas: +6000
  10. Garrett Nussmeier, LSU: +6000

Travis Hunter has a bit of an advantage as he is able to play multiple positions, meaning he is often on the field. However, Hunter has gotten banged up and missed portions of games due to injury, such as a shoulder injury forcing him to miss the entire second half of one game.

He is second in the betting odds for the Heisman Trophy and will most likely be a finalist at this point. If he can stay healthy and the 21st-ranked Colorado Buffaloes (6-2) can continue winning games, Travis Hunter could win the Heisman this season.
