The Ohio State Buckeyes are in a position to win the Big Ten championship but they saw significant offensive changes this offseason. They saw starting quarterback Kyle McCord transfer to Syracuse Orange, and Chip Kelly was hired as the new offensive coordinator.

One question for head coach Ryan Day is who will be under center for the Buckeyes. Let's take a look at the top quarterbacks on the roster and discuss the depth chart at the QB position heading into the 2024 college football season.

Who will be Ryan Day's QB1 at Ohio State?

Will Howard

Will Howard is the quarterback on the Ohio State roster with the most experience and barring any unforeseen circumstances, he will be the starting quarterback for the Buckeyes.

He was the starting quarterback last season for the Kansas State Wildcats and performed well. He completed 61.3% of his passes for 2,643 yards with 24 passing touchdowns to 10 interceptions.

With his veteran leadership and experience, he is the best quarterback available for the Buckeyes to start this season.

Devin Brown

Devin Brown is entering his third season of college football (all with Ohio State), and he has the most experience with Ryan Day. He served as the backup to Kyle McCord last season and did okay as he went 16-of-28 (57.1%) for 217 yards with a pair of touchdown passes and an interception.

It makes sense for him to remain the backup quarterback for another season as this program is in a win-now mode in the Big Ten, and Brown's statistics do not scream that.

Julian Sayin

Julian Sayin is an incoming freshman and will likely be a redshirt plan for the program as the third-string at the position. 247 Sports ranked Sayin the third quarterback in the Class of 2024 and the 20th overall player.

He showcased his abilities as the MVP at the Elite 11 Finals, but getting used to the speed of college football will take time. So it is smart not to rush him onto the field, similar to what Arch Manning has had to do with the Texas Longhorns.
