Ohio State vs. Northwestern game summary

Both teams struggled to create much in the first quarter. Ohio State looked to have scored when Jeremiah Smith made a stunning one-handed 37-yard catch in the endzone. However, Howard's catch was ruled incomplete, and the scores remained unmoved after 15 minutes.

Come the second quarter, Northwestern opened the scoring when Lausch rushed for an 8-yard touchdown. Luke Akers converted the extra point. The Buckeyes drew level when Quinshon Judkins rushed for a 1-yard score, followed by Jayden Fielding's extra point.

Judkins rushed for another 1-yard touchdown to give Ohio State the lead. Fielding converted the extra point.

The Buckeyes extended their advantage when Howard connected with Carnell Tate for a 25-yard touchdown pass. Fielding converted the extra point to give the visitors a 21-7 lead at halftime.

The Buckeyes continued to pile on the misery on the Wildcats in the third quarter. Howard picked out Tate for an 8-yard TD pass and Fielding converted the extra point. The kicker also made a 28-yard field goal with just a minute remaining in the third quarter.

Both teams failed to score in the fourth quarter as the game ended in a 31-7 win over Ohio State. This was also the Buckeyes' ninth win of the season.
