Ohio State vs Penn State: Preview

Ohio State is a 3.5-point favorite while the over/under is set at 46.5 points.

The Buckeyes had their open week two weeks ago and did not look good against Nebraska at home. The Cornhuskers had the ball with less than two minutes to go but Ohio State forced an interception to get the win.

However, Ryan Day was not happy with his team's running game against Nebraska.

“We’ve gotta be able to run the football,” Day said, via YardBarker. “We didn’t run the football. That’s not even close to good enough.”

The Buckeyes have been led by quarterback Will Howard, who's thrown for 1,795 yards, 17 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. Quinshon Judkins has rushed for 520 yards and six interceptions. Jeremiah Smith has 623 receptions for 8 touchdowns.

Defensively, Denzel Burke has two interceptions, JT Tuimoloau has four sacks, and Sonny Styles leads the way with 43 tackles.

Penn State, meanwhile, is undefeated and is coming off a road win over Wisconsin. However, quarterback Drew Allar left the game with an injury and coach James Franklin says he will be a true game-time decision against Ohio State.

"It's too early to tell at this point, but he's played enough football that I think that decision will go all the way up to game time," Franklin said, via 247Sports...

"I do think from a practice perspective, no matter where we're at, we're gonna have to get both of those guys reps Tuesday and Wednesday.
"... The reality is, we're gonna have to have both guys ready. And you could even make the argument (we'll need) all three guys ready, which is challenging to do in a game week," Franklin added.

In place of Allar, Beau Pribula played well as he threw for 98 yards and a touchdown.

Defensively, Penn State has been solid, as the team is led by Jaylen Reed, who has two interceptions, Abdul Carter has four sacks, and Reed also leads the team with 44 tackles.

This should be a very competitive game, but Penn State's chances did take a small shot with Allar dealing with the injury. However, Pribeau played well while Ohio State's offense was an issue last week.

With this game being at home, James Franklin and the Nittany Lions should be able to get over the hump here and get a much-needed win at home to likely eliminate Ohio State from playoff contention.

Prediction: Penn State 21, Ohio State 17
