Ohio vs Kent State: Preview

Ohio is an 18-point favorite while the over/under is set at 52 points.

Against Buffalo, the Bobcats led 24-10 at the half. Parker Navarro threw for 231 yards and two touchdowns, while Rickey Hunt Jr. rushed for 89 yards and a TD on nine carries. Coleman Owen caught six passes for 146 yards and two TDs.

"For us to play our best ball up to date, all three phases, for all four quarters was huge," Ohio coach Tim Albin said after the game, via the team's website. "We played two quarters here and two quarters there, and that was the big challenge at halftime and where we were at.
"The staff did an unbelievable job. I cannot say enough about their efforts and how proud I am. It is a tough week, with senior day, a lot of other things going on. We all wanted the win so bad, and our guys went out there to put our best performance up to date."

This season, Ohio is led by Anthony Tyus III who has rushed for 610 yards and five TDs, while Owen has caught 44 passes for 682 yards and five TDs.

Defensively, the Bobcats are led by Bradley Weaver's five sacks and Blake Leake's 49 tackles.

Meanwhile, Kent State remains winless and has struggled both offensively and defensively. However, Golden Flashes coach Kenni Burnes is proud of his defense and the improvements they have made.

“On defense, I thought we played a solid game, honestly,” Burns said on Oct. 25, via Beacon Journal. “We talked about starting fast, and I thought they did that. I was encouraged by our defense’s performance, and I think they have to build on it and get better. The best defense is a good offense. We have to play complementary football. We were getting into that rhythm a little bit."

Although Burns thinks the defense has gotten better, Ohio should be able to run past the Golden Flashes and cruise to a lopsided win to keep pace in the MAC standings.

Prediction: Ohio 34, Kent State 13
