Oklahoma vs Navy: Preview
Oklahoma is a three-point favorite, while the over/under is set at 43.5 points.
The Sooners had a disappointing year in its first season in the SEC. The team's starting quarterback, Jackson Arnold, entered the portal and committed to Auburn. So, he is among several players not playing in the Armed Forces Bowl.
- Eugene Brooks, OL (transfer portal)
- Brenen Thompson, WR (transfer portal)
- Andrel Anthony, WR (transfer portal)
- Jalil Farooq, WR (transfer portal)
- Dasan McCullough, LB (transfer portal)
- Makari Vickers, CB (transfer portal)
- Josh Bates, OL (transfer portal)
- Kani Walker, CB (transfer portal)
- Geirean Hatchett, OL (transfer portal)
- Bauer Sharp, TE (transfer portal)
- Emeka Megwa, RB (transfer portal)
- Kalib Hicks, RB (transfer portal)
- Nic Anderson, WR (transfer portal)
- Jackson Arnold, QB (transfer portal)
- Jaquaize Pettaway, WR (transfer portal)
The Sooners will be led by Michael Hawkins Jr., who threw for 536 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions. Jovantae Barnes leads the team with 577 rushing yards and five touchdowns.
Navy, meanwhile, is coming off an upset win over Army and only has cornerback Lorenzo Vitti in the portal. Running back Tyler Bradley is dealing with an injury and won't play.
The Midshipmen are led by Blake Horvath, who has thrown for 1,261 yards, 13 touchdowns and four interceptions. He also leads the team with 1,099 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns.
Defensively, Navy is led by Justin Reed, who has five sacks. Dashaun Peele has five interceptions, and Colin Ramos leads the team with 117 tackles.
Navy played well against Army and should enter this game with plenty of confidence. The Sooners, meanwhile, have too many impact players in the transfer portal, which will hurt them on both sides of the ball.
Horvath should be able to run the ball well against Oklahoma's defense and chew the clock. The Sooners won't get many possessions as the Midshipmen are a good team at burning clocks and extending drives as Navy should end the year with a big bowl win.
Prediction: Navy 21, Oklahoma 17
