The Oklahoma Sooners squared off against the top-ranked Texas Longhorns in Week 7 of the 2024 college football season. Saturday's Red River showdown got underway at 3:45 p.m. ET from Cotton Bowl stadium in Dallas, Texas.

Quinn Ewers started as Texas' quarterback while Michael Hawkins Jr. led the offense for Oklahoma.

Oklahoma vs. Texas game summary

Both teams struggled to get their offenses firing in the first quarter. Eventually, Oklahoma took the lead when Tyler Keltner made a 42-yard field goal with 10 seconds remaining in the first.

The Longhorns got on the scoresheet in the second quarter when Ewers connected with Gunnar Helm on a 7-yard touchdown. Bert Auburn converted the extra point.

Texas extended its lead when Quintrevion Wisner rushed 20 yards for a near touchdown of his own but fumbled the ball into the endzone. However, Silas Bolden recovered the ball for a touchdown and Auburn converted the extra point.

The Longhorns swelled the lead further when Wisner rushed for a 43-yard TD with 1:40 remaining in the half. Auburn converted the extra point for Texas, who led 21-3 at halftime.

Texas opened the scoring in the second half when Auburn made a 41-yard field goal. The Sooners, on the other hand, went another quarter without scoring.

The Longhorns put further daylight between themselves and the Sooners when Auburn made a 29-yard field goal in the fourth quarter. Ewers then rushed for a 1-yard TD with just over five minutes remaining in the game.

The Sooners failed to score in the fourth quarter as well and Texas won the contest 34-3 to continue its unbeaten run this season.
