Caleb Odom joined the Alabama Crimson Tide ahead of the 2024 college football season, expecting to play a decent role on the offense. However, after a tricky freshman season, he elected to enter the transfer portal and search for greener pastures.
Odom has now moved to the Ole Miss Rebels, and the pacey wide receiver will add another layer to Lane Kiffin's offense.
College Football fans had a field day with the news:
A fan said, "That’s where he should have signed to from the beginning."
Another added, "Nahh lane kiffin crazyy."
However, some fans weren't as excited:
One fan said, "How much help does kiffin need just to beat Lagway?"
Another added, "Lmaoo dude can’t catch a cold."
Why did Caleb Odom leave Alabama?
Caleb Odom likely left the Alabama Crimson Tide due to a startling lack of targets in his freshman season. The Crimson Tide has always enjoyed a stacked free wide receiver department, and this year wasn't different, with Ryan Williams the only freshman to get significant targets in 2024.
Hence, after year one, it wasn't surprising that Odom elected to enter the transfer portal. He has since joined one of the best teams in the country.
Caleb Odom will relish the opportunity to compete
Most of the top wide receivers on the Rebels squad are in their senior year so they won't be around for too long. However, he must compete against Cayden Lee to become the team's undisputed RB1 for Lane Kiffin's side.
It'll be interesting to see how Odom transitions from the Crimson Tide to the Rebels. One thing's for sure: Odom will continue his development under a head coach acclaimed for doing just that.
