The Week 7 game between Ole Miss and LSU had all the ingredients for a SEC contest: two good, ranked teams playing against each other on a Saturday night, with both looking to avoid a loss that would hurt badly their College Football playoff chances.

Ole Miss and LSU were sitting with one loss on their respective records, and the Rebels were ranked #9 while the Tigers sat at #13. Any loss would represent a huge setback when looking at the long-term picture.
Kyren Lacy ended up being the star of the show with the game-winning catch during overtime, with the Tigers now firmly in the fight for a playoff spot and surely with a huge bump in the rankings coming. Fans stormed the field at the end of the game - they knew how important this win was.
The game went to overtime after a slew of miscues from both teams in the second half, but it's important to notice that this wasn't an easy game for LSU as it used to be. The Tigers had to grind hard to win and move to 2-0 inside the SEC.
The star of the show was Kyren Lacy. He dominated with over 80 receiving yards in the first half, and while he didn't do much after, he showed his quality again as he caught the game-winning touchdown from Nussmeier, finishing a close and tense game that could've gone to either side.

The Rebels will walk home lamenting how they let LSU come back into the game. With just under one minute, they led 23-16 and allowed two passes of over 10 yards for the Tigers to score and take the game to overtime. At the 2-minute warning, they just had to defend a 4th & 6.
It wasn't pretty, but LSU will re-enter the top 10 after their fifth straight win with a lot of confidence. Bigger challenges lay ahead, however, with Texas A&M and Alabama waiting in Weeks 9 and 11. We'll see then if they keep up for the playoff fight or not. For the Rebels, the mission is nearly impossible now.
