The Oregon vs Oregon State football rivalry is contested for the Platypus Trophy. While the Oregon Ducks of the University of Oregon belong to the Big-12 Conference, the Oregon State Beavers of the Oregon State University are a member of the Pac-12 Conference. However, they both belong to the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS).

The Oregon Ducks and the Oregon State Beavers have gone head-to-head 128 times, as of 2024 and have competed for the Platypus Trophy from 1959 to 1961. They again resumed the trophy rivalry from 2007 onwards. The Oregon Ducks play at the Autzen Stadium in Eugene, Oregon. Similarly, the Oregon State Beavers play at the Reser Stadium in Corvallis, Oregon. The rivalries between these two teams alternate between these two stadiums.

Oregon vs Oregon State Football Rivalry History

The rivalry between the Oregon Ducks and the Oregon State Beavers is 128 years old, as of 2024. Their rivalry had previously been home through the names of the Oregon Classic State Championship Game from 1894 to 1928 and then Civil War from 1929 to 2020. The two teams first faced off against one another on November 3, 1894 with Oregon State (then called Oregon Agricultural) winning the game 16-0. However, Oregon won the rivalry for the very first time the next year in 1895 by defeating Oregon State (Oregon Agricultural) 44-0.

With the introduction of the Platypus Trophy in 1959, Oregon State was the first team to win the trophy in that year. However, Oregon got their hands on the trophy in 1963 when they defeated Oregon State 31-14. This trophy rivalry was continued till 1961, after which, it unfortunately got lost and the trophy series was discontinued until 2006. However, the trophy was reintroduced in 2007 and since then, both teams have continued to compete for the trophy over the years. However, this trophy has not been declared to be an official rivalry trophy. As of 2024, Oregon is leading the rivalry with a record of 69-49-10.
