The Georgia Bulldogs have been doing something they are not familiar with and that is losing games. After having three years between regular season losses, they are on the verge of losing two regular season games in a four-week span.

Paul Finebaum made an appearance on Sportscenter on Monday and discussed how the Georgia Bulldogs are in a must-win situation against the Texas Longhorns this week.

"Well, Matt Georgia doesn't want to lose two of these three 'Game of the Century's'. Remember two weeks ago when they lost Alabama and another loss would almost be incalculable to think about Georgia, the team that has literally owned college football here for three years. They didn't lose a regular season game, you have to go back to COVID Matt! Now they're underdogs, and very few people think they're going to win here. So if they do lose, they're in a fight for survival." h/t On3

The Georgia Bulldogs are currently fifth in the AP Poll with a 5-1 (3-1 SEC) record. They have not played as crisp defensively lately, allowing 28.3 points in their previous three games. It will be intriguing to see if the Georgia Bulldogs can get back on track and look like a national championship-level team.

What happened to the Georgia Bulldogs?

The Georgia Bulldogs have not looked as sharp during the SEC portion of their schedule thus far and things do not get easier. Let's take a look at their remaining regular season schedule.

  • 10/19: at 1 Texas Longhorns
  • 11/2: vs. Florida Gators
  • 11/9: at 18 Ole Miss Rebels
  • 11/16: vs. 11 Tennessee Volunteers
  • 11/23: vs. UMass Minutemen
  • 11/29: vs. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

This defense, one that coach Kirby Smart has been praised for years at developing, could be the weakest factor of the program. They lost to the Alabama Crimson Tide and were in a dogfight, no pun intended, against the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

It just appears that the defense is not playing up to par, specifically in the passing game. They are 104th in college football with a 61.7 completion percentage against and that is killing them. They are a defensive-minded team and if they can fix their defensive woes recently, the Bulldogs are back on the right track to be considered one of the favorites for the national championship.
