Preston Stone is a college football quarterback for the SMU Mustangs, as of December 2024. Hailing from Dallas, Texas, Preston Stone was a student at Parish Episcopal School. During his high school career, he made 902 passes for 13,178 yards, 148 touchdowns, and 21 interceptions. Additionally, he rushed for 2,172 yards and 34 touchdowns. The four-star recruit of ESPN secured the 121st rank on the ESPN 300 list in 2021. Stone, the SI All-American candidate, was selected for the First-Team All-State in 2020.

The Built Ford Tough Player of the Year (2020) was ranked 5th in the dual-threat QB rankings of 247Sports. He was also named a second-team Max Prep Freshman All-American in the same year. The three-time AAC Offensive Player of the Week earned the American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team honor in 2021. Additionally, Stone earned other honors such as CFPA National Performer of the Week, Star of the Week, and Quarterback of the Week. Stone was also placed in the Davey O’Brien Class of 2023 list.
