The Purdue Boilermakers have a brand new coach in Barry Odom after a 1-11 college football season, but there are a lot of changes happening to the program. With significant players heading to the NCAA Transfer Portal, the roster is going to have a lot of changes. Let's take a closer look at the most significant names of players who left the Purdue Boilermakers through the NCAA Transfer Portal and discuss where they have gone.

Purdue Boilermakers' Biggest Transfer Portal Losses

LB Yanni Karlaftis

Losing junior linebacker Yanni Karlaftis is more than just losing a starter, it makes the Boilermakers lose their third-best tackler in the 2024 season. On the season, he had 57 total tackles (33 solo, 24 assisted) with 0.5 sacks and a pass deflection. He is staying in the Big Ten with a move to the Northwestern Wildcats, but Karlaftis improved every season to become a solid player for the Boilermakers so losing him is going to be a massive loss.

TE Max Klare

Sophomore tight end Max Klare was Purdue's best receiver throughout the course of the 2024 season and has left the program to stay in the Big Ten to join the Ohio State Buckeyes. He significantly stepped up this season and led the team as he had 51 receptions for 685 yards (13.4 yards per catch) with four receiving touchdowns.

Klare is going to be a solid player going forward but with him gone, it would be difficult for the Boilermakers to get going after losing such a vital piece of their offense from this season.

WR Jahmal Edrine

Wide receiver junior Jahmal Edrine was one of the top wide receivers in the Purdue Boilermakers' program but he entered the NCAA Transfer Portal and transferred to the Virginia Cavaliers. Edrine finished the 2024 college football season with 23 receptions for 365 yards (15.9 yards per catch) with a pair of touchdown catches.

Losing another significant weapon for the passing game is going to be difficult for Purdue. It will be interesting to see how the offense looks without another key piece of the team.
