Quinn Ewers has been in the spotlight for the No. 1 Texas Longhorns (4-0) ahead of their Week 5 clash against the Mississippi State Bulldogs (1-3). The Texas quarterback is nursing an abdominal injury and fans want to know Ewers' status for Saturday's game, which will be held at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin.

As per reports, Quinn Ewers is not expected to play against Mississippi State on Saturday. However, the team will make a final decision just before the Week 5 game kicks off at 4:15 p.m. EDT.

Ewers is recovering from an abdominal injury and has been considered 'week-to-week' since injuring his oblique against UTSA on Sept. 14. The senior signal-caller did not play in Week 4 against the Louisiana–Monroe Warhawks, and instead, Arch Manning was given the green light to start his first game of the season.

Manning led the Longhorns to a 51-3 win last Saturday, maintaining Texas' unbeaten streak to the season. Now, it appears that Manning could be given the nod to start against Mississippi State in Week 5 as well.

Per reports, Ewers was nearly 70% of his full health when he practiced on Tuesday. He was a limited participant in practice on Wednesday and Thursday.

The Texas staff now reportedly wants to give Ewers an extra break to recover before the Longhorns make the trip to face No. 21 Oklahoma on Oct. 12.

In three appearances this season, Ewers has completed 58 of 79 passes for 691 yards, throwing eight touchdowns and four interceptions.
