As the College Football Playoff quarterfinals are approaching, we are able to learn a little bit more about the preparation of these players. Ahead of the matchup between the Texas Longhorns and the Arizona State Sun Devils, we learned a little bit more about the preparation that it takes for quarterback Quinn Ewers to lock in and get mentally prepared for the game at hand.
While appearing on "SEC This Morning," Ewers disclosed that he only has one superstition that happens ahead of a game. He wears the same dress socks in pregame, and the socks say William Travis's famous saying from the Alamo:
"Give me victory or give me death."
A big reason is the fact that Ewers is from San Antonio, so the quote is a bit closer to home. Outside of that, though, Ewers did not discuss any other pregame superstitions that he has.
Where will Quinn Ewers be selected in the 2025 NFL draft?
While it has not been confirmed that he will be forgoing his senior year of NCAA eligibility and entering the 2025 NFL draft, there has been some discussion about that being the case. If he does enter the draft, he has shown a lot during his college games to get scouts excited.
Heading into the College Football Playoff quarterfinal against the Arizona State Sun Devils, Ewers has completed 250-of-376 (66.5%) of his passes for 2,867 yards with 26 passing touchdowns to 10 interceptions as well as adding a rushing touchdown. Ewers plays more of a traditional pocket-passing quarterback rather than extending plays with his legs.
He also has led the Texas Longhorns to back-to-back College Football Playoff appearances, losing in the semifinals last season.
There is a lot to like about Ewers' game, and if he were to enter the draft, he would be a first-round selection. There will be a handful of quarterbacks taken in the first round once again, so depending on how the final draft order falls, expect to see Quinn Ewers be a top-20 selection in the 2025 NFL draft if he declares.
