Rose Bowl opt-outs and injury report: Top Oregon & Ohio State players not playing

The Oregon Ducks will play the Ohio State Buckeyes in the Rose Bowl on Wednesday, Jan. 1, at 5 p.m. ET. The game serves as the quarterfinal of the College Football Playoff.

Oregon is the No. 1 seed and went 13-0 by beating Penn State in the Big Ten Championship. Ohio State, meanwhile, is the No. 8 seed and blew out the Tennessee Volunteers in the first round of the playoff after going 11-2.

Oregon

The Oregon Ducks have six players in the transfer portal and five players injured.

Emar'rion Winston, DL (transfer portal)

Emar'rion Winston entered the transfer portal and won't play in the Rose Bowl. Winston recorded eight tackles and a pass defense this season.

JacQawn McRoy, DL (transfer portal)

Freshman defensive lineman JacQawn McRoy entered the transfer portal after not recording any stats this season.

Jaeden Moore, DL (transfer portal)

Jaeden Moore is another defensive lineman in the transfer portal. Moore is a redshirt freshman who recorded six tackles and 0.5 sacks this season.

Oregon Ducks defensive lineman Tionne Gray is questionable to play in the Rose Bowl with an undisclosed injury. Gray didn't play in the Big Ten Championship Game due to the injury. He recorded just one tackle this season.
