Colorado head coach Deion Sanders has been linked to the Las Vegas Raiders' vacant head coaching job this week, most notably by ESPN's Pat McAfee. Sanders has already announced that the only way he would join an NFL team was if they signed both his sons, Shedeur and Shilo Sanders.
Outkick's Jonathan Hutton thinks the Tennessee Titans, who own the No. 1 pick in the draft, would be willing to ship the pick to the Raiders, which would open the door for Coach Prime to unite with his son, Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders.
"That (the Las Vegas Raiders) would be the team that the Titans would trade with because, if the Titans draft him, he's not gonna play," Hutton said Thursday on Outkick's Hot Mic with Hutton & Withrow.
Comparing Shedeur Sanders's situation to that of Eli Manning, Hutton said:
"Or you draft him, then you trade the player, which is what happened with the Chargers and Giants when Eli Manning was in the draft. That's the top team that everyone's going to link."
Coach Prime laid out his condition Wednesday on the show Good Morning America.
Why hasn't Coach Prime made a move yet?
The Raiders fired both head coach Antonio Pierce and general manager Tom Telesco this week. Hutton believes the reason why the elder Sanders hadn't jumped on the opportunity yet is out of respect for Pierce. A video of Sanders asking Pierce to draft his sons at an event in February last year has been recirculating after the latest speculations.
"He's not going to publicly say, 'Yeah, I'll coach my sons and I'll coach in Vegas,'" Hutton said. "It's clear that they want Shedeur in Vegas. But, he's not going to say that publicly if he has respect for the job that Antonio Pierce is doing. But, once Pierce is out the door ... his hat's in the ring immediately."
Coach Prime has also said he's comfortable at Colorado, where he'd be entering his third season in charge if he's to stick around until next fall. If he decides to instead head to the land of slot machines and show business, the flashy elder Sanders would fit right in.
