For Colorado's Shedeur Sanders, the time of year has come when NFL Draft pundits debate his level of talent and worth as the draft approaches. Some aren't sold on Sanders, the Buffaloes's quarterback of the past two seasons.
For the skeptics, NFL Draft analyst and ESPN Radio (Kansas City)'s J Tuck shared insightful thoughts based on discussions with NFL scouts.
"I just spoke to a few NFL scouts and they informed me, that the scouts that are telling you Shedeur Sanders isn't a first round pick should update their resume on Linkedin and file for unemployment," Tuck posted on X.
Pictures of Sanders's red-and-blue custom Nike cleats prompted rumors of a footwear statement about where he would potentially move. However, he didn't wear those cleats in the warmups or the actual Alamo Bowl game against BYU.
The New York Giants then slipped out of the No. 1 spot in the order. With the NFL regular season over, the Tennessee Titans will receive the initial draft selection.
Whether Tennessee is interested in Shedeur Sanders remains to be seen. Instead, they might take his teammate and close friend, Heisman Trophy winner and two-way player Travis Hunter. Hunter wants to play on both sides of the ball in the pros, as well, something that hasn't been done on a routine basis in decades.
The Titans fluctuated between the uninspired passing of Will Levis, whose future with the team appears bleak, and Mason Rudolph, who struggled to regain his success with Pittsburgh at the end of last season.
On Thursday, former NFL scout Daniel Kelly shared his view on Shedeur Sanders, which would group him in with those Tuck addressed with his post.
"Shedeur Sanders doesn't belong in this picture," Kelly wrote on X, responding to a DraftKings post hypothesizing a way that the Giants could trade New England for the first pick.
The New England Patriots ruined its shot at the first pick by downing Josh Allen-less Buffalo on Sunday.
Shedeur Sanders isn't the only quarterback people wonder about
Sanders isn't the only quarterback that the general consensus is unsure about. Quinn Ewers, featured on the cover of Electronic Arts' College Football 25 along with Hunter, is currently facing criticism for his offense's struggles. Ewers, unlike Sanders, isn't set in stone for the draft. He could remain a collegian for another campaign but has a Cotton Bowl matchup with Ohio State to worry about now.
How highly those on the next level think of Sanders will be a main storyline to keep up with as the NFL Draft approaches.
