Deion Sanders expressed interest in coaching in the NFL, but only if he can be united with his sons, he said Wednesday on "Good Morning America." ESPN's Stephen A. Smith isn't so sure that Sanders is mindful of the business of football's largest stage.

On Friday's episode of ESPN's "First Take, Smith discussed Coach Prime's desire to coach his sons at the next level while acknowledging Sanders' limited experience.

(4:22) "We ain't comparing him to Nick Saban," Smith said. "I've got love for what Deion has done, but he ain't no seven-time champion as a head coach on the college football level. ... When I think about Deion standing on a national television set and saying, 'If you coached your sons on an NFL level' Deion knows about (coaching) in the NFL just like you do."

Cam Newton, a former Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback at Auburn and an 11-year NFL veteran understands how the pros work. He acknowledged that Sanders' son, Colorado quarterback Shedeur, hasn't played under anyone else for long.

(0:30) "I believe in nepotism," Newton said. "I believe that everything that you're doing, you've gotta put your people on. He's doing that. But when you think about this statistic right here, Coach Prime has coached his son, Shedeur, in rec ball, he coached him in high school, he coached him in college."

Would Coach Prime be able to adjust in the NFL?

Cam Newton wondered if Shedeur Sanders could be coached by someone other than his father.

(1:33) "Has he really been coached the right way to be able to say, 'Hey! Boy, sit down and sh**. Oh, that's Shedeur, hold on. Man, could you please sit down?' Because the offensive coordinator or the quarterback coach is employed by his dad," Newton said.

Stephen A. Smith has concerns about it being the other way around.

(3:18) "I would ask, 'Can the dad coach someone else at the quarterback spot that ain't his son?'" Smith said. "What I would ask is, 'When your son ain't the quarterback anymore — you know your son backwards and forward, he's got your DNA. ... What about when it's somebody else?'"

On3 has reported that Coach Prime would be interested in the Las Vegas Raiders' vacant head coaching job. ESPN's Pat McAfee said earlier this week that Sin City would be an ideal landing spot for the high-profile coach to relocate to.
