Jaxson Dart, the quarterback for Ole Miss Rebels, might be facing a tough break with a possible torn ACL. Reports from Message Board Geniuses suggest that this unfortunate turn of events would be a significant blow for Dart and the Rebels.
Despite a procedure on his lower body earlier this year, Dart participated in offseason drills, showing his commitment to the team.
There has been a lot of buzz around Dart, with many college football analysts seeing him as a potential surprise contender for the Heisman Trophy in the upcoming season.
Recently, an insider hinted at Dart's injury, noting multiple sources suggesting he may have torn his ACL. On Aug. 2, a post on X (formerly Twitter) said:
"Multiple inside sources tell MBG that #OleMiss quarterback Jaxson Dart has torn his ACL."
The post also included screenshots from an insider:
“I got 3 text messages from some buddies this morning asking if I've heard Jaxson Dart tore his ACL. I haven't heard it from anyone that would for sure know but it's weird.”
The message added:
“One of them roomed with a student trainer for 2 years... Idk if that's who he heard it from or not.”
Meanwhile, Rebels coach Lane Kiffin mentioned this spring that Dart, who threw for 3,364 yards and 23 touchdowns last season, had undergone a lower body procedure that limited his spring practice.
The Rebels kicked off the season on Aug. 31 against the Furman Paladins. Ole Miss will aim for a strong start and a potential run for the College Football Playoff.
Will Ole Miss make its first-ever College Football Playoff appearance without Jaxson Dart?
Ole Miss has a promising lineup for the 2024 season, which gives it a real shot at making its first-ever College Football Playoff appearance. Its first five games include matchups against Furman (home) on Aug. 31, Middle Tennessee (home) on Sept. 7, Wake Forest (away) on Sept. 14, Georgia Southern (home) on Sept. 21 and Kentucky (away) on Sept. 28.
Coach Kiffin is busy building a strong team, tapping into the transfer portal for new talent. The Rebels have 14 returning starters: seven on offense, five on defense and two on special teams.
They've lost key players like RB Quinshon Judkins, WR Dayton Wade and others. However, they still have top players like QB Jaxson Dart, WR Jordan Watkins, WR Tre Harris, DT Walter Nolen, DE Princely Umanmielen, DE Jared Ivy and S John Saunders, who are ready to make an impact this season.
