Deion Sanders, otherwise known as Coach Prime, has spent the last two seasons in charge at Colorado. There's another destination for him that could get people talking, ESPN's Pat McAfee thinks.

The Las Vegas Raiders have acoaching vacancy after firing Antonio Pierce on Tuesday afternoon. It's rumored that they're interested in NFL coaching legend Bill Belichick despite him taking over North Carolina's football program.

On Wednesday's edition of The Pat McAfee Show, the show's namesake explained why he thinks Coach Prime would be the hire to get everyone talking.

"Las Vegas is always gonna be pumping," McAfee said. "I mean, it's always gonna be great. I assume Raiders fans think, 'We're not that far away.' If they were to bring Prime in ... Obviously, Colorado wouldn't be thrilled and everything like that. But, that's a splash hiring. That gets Las Vegas pumped.
"Then they bring in Shedeur, it's like, 'Okay, we're gonna get the chance to experience this. That would be a massive headline-winner. Would it be an actual winner? TBD. But, I think all these teams that are in these positions of hiring new people, if you get a good hire, you bring hope back to your team."

Coach Prime has been on record that he will have some say in where his son, Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders, will end up in the NFL.

There's mixed feelings as to whether or not the younger Sanders should be taken highly in April's NFL Draft. If the pairing ends up in Sin City, though, it would bring a spark to a once-proud franchise that has fallen on tough times.

How would Coach Prime help the Raiders?

The Raiders finished this season 4-13. They struggled through a 10-game losing streak but will retain general manager Tom Telesco, who they hired in January. Las Vegas has building blocks in defensive end Maxx Crosby and young tight end Brock Bowers.

The team hopes that the next coach to take over, Coach Prime or anybody else, would lead it back to the postseason for the first time since 2021. Since 2016, the Raiders have only had two winning seasons.

The Raiders haven't won a playoff game since they reached Super Bowl XXXVII in 2003. That was also the last time that they won a division crown. Since then, they've cycled through 13 coaches.

Under Al Davis, the Raiders were always a team that thought outside the box, be it adding the speediest talent available or drafting a special teamer earlier than anyone thought was prudent. Maybe bringing in Coach Prime would restore that sort of contradictory feel.
