The Rutgers Scarlet Knights go on the road to play the Virginia Tech Hokies on Saturday, September 21 at 3:30 p.m. ET. The game can be seen on the ACC Network.
Rutgers is 2-0 and was off in Week 3. Virginia Tech, meanwhile, is 2-1 and has won two straight games after an upset loss to Vanderbilt in Week 1.
Rutgers vs Virginia Tech Prediction
Rutgers is a 3.5-point underdog on the road against Virginia Tech, while the over/under is set for 45.5 points.
The Scarlet Knights didn't play in Week 3, which allows Rutgers to rest some players and use the extra week to game plan for Virginia Tech. Rutgers is led by transfer quarterback Athan Kaliakmanis, who has played well in the first two games.
It is the first time Rutgers is going on the road this season, which coach Greg Schiano is excited about.
“First time on the road, I love that,” Schiano said, via App.com. “It will be a great environment. The players that we face on the road, this is a veteran team that as I look at them, they probably have eight to 10 draft picks on this team and probably another five to seven free agents. They have a lot of NFL players,” he added.
Virginia Tech, meanwhile, was considered a dark horse to win the ACC but the Hokies were stunned on the road against Vanderbilt. Since then, the team has played much better and are the favorites at home against Rutgers.
This should be a great game between two solid defenses, as Virginia Tech likely can't afford to lose another game after losing to Vanderbilt.
This will be a game that goes to the wire, but the Hokies will edge out the win at home.
Prediction: Virginia Tech 23, Rutgers 20
