Ryan Day is a collegiate football head coach, appointed by the Ohio State Buckeyes in December 2019. Day began his coaching career in 2012 with Temple and then worked his way through the ranks, eventually becoming the Head Coach of the Buckeyes in 2019. He finished the 2023 season with a 56-8 record in five years for the Buckeyes. His record in the Big Ten Conference is 39-3. They won back-to-back Big Ten Championships in 2019 and 2020. Day guided the program to the College Football Playoffs for three consecutive years, making it one of the best programs in the country. Under Ryan Day, the Buckeyes were one of the only three programs in the country to qualify for the College Football Playoffs three times since 2019. Day helped the team win the Sugar Bowl in 2020 and the Rose Bowl in 2021. He coached 16 players to the All-Americans Award, six players to the Big Ten Quarterback of the Year, and six players to the Heisman Trophy final nomination. Day helped 32 players to the NFL Draft, and nine were picked in the first round. Day also made an impact academically when he set a program record; his 61 students earned a nomination for the Scholar-Athlete Award in 2021.
