After a hectic Week 9 college football slate, the race for the Heisman Trophy is heating up. The Colorado Buffaloes' star duo of Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders continue to build their respective Heisman cases.

For Sanders, he is coming off yet another remarkable performance versus Cincinnati on Saturday night. The star quarterback completed 25 of 30 passes for 323 yards and three total touchdowns — two passing and one rushing.

This season, it's his fifth game with 300 or more passing yards and his seventh with two or more passing touchdowns. Colorado's 6-2 (4-1 Big 12 Conference) record is also helping Sanders' Heisman Trophy candidacy.

Here is a look at Sanders' updated Heisman Trophy odds following an electric Week 9 performance.

Despite sustaining his high level of play at the QB position, Shedeur Sanders' Heisman odds have dipped to +5000 after opening the season with +2500.

  1. Dillon Gabriel, Oregon (+230)
  2. Travis Hunter, Colorado (+270)
  3. Cam Ward, Miami (FL) (+300)
  4. Ashton Jeanty, Boise State (+440)
  5. Cade Klubnik, Clemson (+1600)
  6. Carson Beck, Georgia (+3300)
  7. Drew Allar, Penn State (+5000)
  8. Shedeur Sanders, Colorado (+5000)

You'd be right to question Sanders' low ranking. Sanders has more passing yards and passing touchdowns than four of the five QBs ahead of him. Sanders' dad and Colorado coach Deion Sanders talked about Shedeur's Heisman chances and also had questions of his own.

"He's not even mentioned for the Heisman," Sanders said after the Week 9 game. "Oh my bad, he's my son. That's why."

Through eight games, Sanders has completed 73.3% of his passes for 2,591 yards and 21 touchdowns with six interceptions. Sanders is sixth in the FBS in passing yards, third in passing touchdowns, fourth in completion percentage and 11th in passer rating (min. 100 attempts).

Colorado also entered the Top 25 for the first time this season after defeating Cincinnati.
