SMU Starting QB 2024: Who will start for Rhett Lashlee's team in Week 15? 

The SMU Mustangs have enjoyed a stellar 2024 college football season. They go into the ACC Championship Game with an 11-1 record. In their next game, the Mustangs will face the Clemson Tigers, a fellow ACC powerhouse.

With the ACC Championship Game around the corner, here's a closer look at the Mustangs' starting quarterback and potential depth chart for the position.

SMU's starting QB against Clemson Tigers in Week 15

Kevin Jennings started all but three of the SMU Mustangs' games in the 2024 season. The sophomore shot caller has been a calming presence in their 11-1 run this season, especially with his dual-threat ability.

Jennings has enjoyed a sophomore season to remember, with the Oak Cliff-born quarterback amassing 2,746 passing yards, 19 touchdowns and seven interceptions. His 74.1 quarterback rating (QBR) is the 24th-best in the nation.

Jennings will enter the 2024 ACC Championship Game with one goal on his mind, and that's to bring ACC glory to the Mustangs and put them on the right track for a deep run in the expanded College Football Playoff.

SMU Mustangs' QB depth chart

The Mustangs have two quarterbacks, Preston Stone and Keldric Luster, ready to step up at short notice if necessary for the 2024 ACC Championship Game.

Preston Stone started the season as the Mustangs' starting quarterback. The Parish Episcopal High School product started the season with some rocky performances before he was ultimately relegated to QB2 on Sept. 10, 2024. He has since embraced the role while Jennings is enjoying a spectacular season as QB1.

Keldric Luster is the other quarterback on the Mustangs' depth chart. The McKinney High School product is firmly entrenched in the program as a backup in his second year. He'll be on the bench just in case his number is called; however, it's unlikely that he'll see the field with Jennings' form and Stone's experience.
