Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders had a stellar season, culminating in a 9-3 record and barely missing out on the Big 12 championship game. According to the latest ESPN mock drafts, Sanders is projected to be the first quarterback off the board in the 2025 NFL draft.
Before his lofty projections, Sanders hit some huge milestones in college football. During the Buffs' 31-26 Week 1 win over the North Dakota State Bison, he threw his 100th passing touchdown in college football, fittingly to two-way star Travis Hunter.
The quarterback's mother and Coach Prime's ex-wife, Pilar Sanders, hyped him up with an enthusiastic Instagram post.
"CONGRATS ON YOUR 100 PASSING TOUCHDOWNS!!! So proud of you son! Go #shedeursanders #legendary #ss2 #gobuffs #skobuffs," Sanders wrote.

On Monday, USA Today reported that the NFL-bound Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter had been covered by insurance taken out by the Colorado Buffaloes (9-3) for their Alamo Bowl game against the 17th-ranked BYU Cougars (10-2) on Saturday.
Colorado athletic director Rick George revealed in a statement that the idea to cover the Buffs stars had originated from charismatic coach Deion Sanders.
“It was his idea that we should get disability insurance for our student-athletes for this game to ensure that they play and if there was some kind of injury, that they’d be well taken care of,” George said. “So, we worked together on that. We’re excited about it. We think it’s great that all of our players are playing in the game. That’s what all bowl games should be like.
"It's a testament to him getting out there in front of his guys and saying, `You know, we want you to play,’ and we did this because we want to make sure that these guys are covered. We’re excited about it, and it’s gonna be one heck of a game. And you’re gonna see everybody on our roster.”
During a news conference earlier in the season, Coach Prime said that Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter would definitely play in the Buffs' bowl game to keep the team's momentum going. During a recent news conference, Coach Prime said that his son and the reigning Heisman winner had gotten a huge insurance coverage for the game against the Cougars.
“We happen to have two players that are probably gonna be the first two picks of the NFL draft,” Sanders said. “I think we all know who those two are, and they have received I think the highest number of coverage that has ever been covered in college football."
Most projected top picks in college football usually opt out of their team's bowl games to protect their draft stock, but Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter have agreed to go back into the trenches with their teammates for one last hurrah before departing for the NFL.
