South Carolina vs. Oklahoma game summary

South Carolina got off to a perfect start when Raheim Sanders rushed for a 3-yard touchdown to open the scoring in the first quarter. Alex Herrera converted the extra point.

The Gamecocks extended their lead when Hawkins was hit by Demetrius Knight and fumbled the ball to Tonka Hemingway, who rumbled 36 yards for a touchdown. South Carolina pulled away further when Nick Emmanwori intercepted a pass to return it 65 yards for a touchdown. The three-minute blitz for the Gamecocks saw them take a 21-0 lead after the first quarter.

The Sooners replaced quarterback Hawkins Jr. with Jackson Arnold in the first quarter.

The Gamecocks also opened the scoring in the second quarter when Herrera made a 39-yard field goal. Meanwhile, Oklahoma eventually got on the scoresheet when Zach Schmit made a 44-yard field goal.

Sellers then got in on the act when he threw a 33-yard touchdown pass to Joshua Simon. The Gamecocks also converted a 2-point score via Maurice Brown and took a big 32-3 lead into halftime.

The Sooners got their first touchdown of the game in the third quarter when Arnold connected with Brenen Thompson for a 54-yard touchdown pass. They looked for a 2-point conversion but failed.

In the fourth quarter, Herrera made a 33-yard field goal to all but seal the game for the Gamecocks, who recorded a comfortable 35-9 win.
