The Sugar Bowl is one of the longest-running bowl games in collegiate football, with its first game played in 1935. It takes place annually in New Orleans, Louisiana, and hosted at the Caesars Superdome. The bowl has a rich tradition of featuring elite college teams, often drawing matchups between the Southeastern Conference (SEC) and Big 12 teams, depending on their role in the postseason.

As part of the New Year’s Six Bowls, the Sugar Bowl plays a role in the College Football Playoff (CFP) system. Previously, when not hosting a CFP semifinal, it typically invited the highest-ranked teams from the SEC and Big 12 that are not in the playoff. The 2025 Sugar Bowl was held on 2nd January, Notre Dame beat Georgia Bulldogs with a 23-10 scoreline.
