After playing in the National Championship Bowl in the 2022 season, the TCU Horned Frogs haven't found the same kind of success. After a losing record in 2023, Texas Christian bounced back this year, going 9-4.
The transfer portal hasn’t gone how the Horned Frogs would have expected. With eight commitments and 12 players leaving, TCU is ranked 12th in the Big 12 during the ongoing transfer portal.
Among the top incoming players are former LSU tight end Ka’Morreun Pimpton, UTSA running back Kevorian Barnes and LSU safety Kylin Jackson. As for outgoing players, here are the top three players leaving the program.
Three impact players TCU lost in the transfer portal
#3 Abe Camara, Safety
Linebacker Shad Banks could also have made this spot, but Abe Camara has been productive for the last three seasons at TCU. Camara will play one final year, thanks to the rule allowing JUCO transfers one extra year of eligibility.
Camara ended 2024 with career highs in tackles (55) and forced fumbles, with two, as well as six pass deflections. In his career, the Alpharetta, Georgia, native has totaled 150 tackles, 14 pass deflections, three forced fumbles and one interception.
Camara was a part of the team that played for the national title and was also an important leader in the secondary. His experience will be missed by a young perimeter.
#2 JoJo Earle, Wide Receiver
The former Alabama wide receiver is leaving the Horned Frogs after two years back home in Fort Worth. The senior wide receiver will play one final year with the UNLV Rebels.
Earle was a 4-star prospect while coming out of high school but hasn’t reached his expected potential at the college level. His best season came in 2023 when he caught 16 balls for 239 yards and two touchdowns. He followed that up with seven receptions for 37 yards and a touchdown one year later.
In his career, JoJo Earle has caught 47 passes, for 579 yards and five scores. Perhaps another change of scenery is what he needs to break out in his final year of college eligibility.
#1 James Brockermeyer, Center
Another former Alabama player, James Brockermeyer, will be leaving TCU for Miami. The junior from Fort Worth, Texas, is projected to be the starter and the anchor of the Hurricanes offensive line.
Brockermeyer is a strong blocker despite being slightly undersized. He was in the middle of the Horned Frogs offensive line last season and should contribute right away in South Florida.
