TCU vs Baylor: Preview
TCU is a 3-point underdog on the road, while the over/under is set at 64.5 points.
The Horned Frogs are coming off a thrilling comeback win over Texas Tech. TCU outscored Texas Tech 14–3 in the fourth quarter to win. Josh Hoover threw for 344 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions.
Coach Sonny Dykes believes the win will help boost TCU down the stretch as he believes he has a good team.
“I think we’re playing hard,” Dykes said after the win over Texas Tech, via Forth Worth Star-Telegram. “It’s still not great football, but we’re playing hard. They’re starting to gain some confidence from grinding out some tough wins.”
“We’re going to have to play better. If we’re going to make any noise we have to play better... I’m excited and anxious for us to play a good football game on offense and defense together. We haven’t done that yet, but I’m excited about what this team can be if we can get to that point where it can happen.”
TCU is led by Hoover who's thrown for 2,614 yards, 19 touchdowns and eight interceptions. Cam Cook has rushed for 368 yards and six touchdowns. Jack Bech has 825 receiving yards and seven touchdowns.
Baylor, meanwhile, is coming off a statement win over Oklahoma State. The Bears were led by Swayer Robertson who threw three touchdowns and 222 yards, while Dawson Pendergrass rushed for 142 yards and a touchdown.
The Bears have a good passing game, and TCU's defense knows stopping them will be difficult.
“Baylor’s a good squad, they have a great receiving core,” safety Abe Camara said. “The two outside receivers (Ashtyn Hawkins and Hal Presley), they’re two solid guys. The slot receiver (Monaray Baldwin), I’ve been going against him for three years, so I know he’s a solid player. They’ve got good backs and a quarterback that’s leading them."
This should be a close game, but Baylor at home should edge out TCU. The Hornes Frogs should've lost to Texas Tech last week, and Baylor's offense will be able to match TCU to get the win.
Prediction: Baylor 38, TCU 34.
