The Texas State Bobcats face the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns in Week 10 of the 2024 college football season on Tuesday. The Bobcats have their work cut out, as they've never beaten the Ragin' Cajuns in 11 meetings.
On that note, let's take a look at the likely starter at quarterback for this crunch Week 10 game.
Texas State's starting QB against the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns in Week 10
Jordan McCloud has started all seven games for the Texas State Bobcats in 2024 and will likely keep his place against the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns.
McCloud has compiled a stat line of 1,891 passing yards, 20 touchdowns and seven interceptions for the season. His best showing was against Arkansas State, throwing for 325 yards, four TDs and zero interceptions in the win. He also added a rushing touchdown for good measure.
McCloud is in his senior season. He enjoyed spells with the South Florida Bulls, Arizona Wildcats and James Madison Dukes before taking his talents to Texas State. His experience has been a major asset for the program as it attempts to secure Bowl Game eligibility in a couple of weeks.
Texas State Bobcats' QB depth chart
There are three other players on the Bobcats' quarterback depth chart - RJ Martinez, Brad Jackson and PJ Hatter.
Martinez is a recent transfer from the Baylor Bears. The dual-threat quarterback was unable to break into the Bears' lineup under coach Dave Aranda, who was relegated to a backup role in 2023 and entered the transfer portal after the end of the season. He was picked up by the Bobcats and is now Jordan McCloud's primary backup.
Brad Jackson is in his freshman season and is viewed as the Bobcats' quarterback of the future. Jackson shone at the high school level and had his pick of scholarship offers.
He eventually chose to join the Texas State Bobcats, where he's learning from the senior-caliber quarterbacks and coach GJ Kinne. The fourth-string quarterback on the chart is PJ Hatter.
