With a spot in the CFP Semifinals up for grabs, Texas and Arizona State will play in the Peach Bowl. The game will be held in Atlanta on New Year’s Day at 1:00 p.m. ET.

The Texas Longhorns (12-2) come into the game heavily favored after breezing through the regular season. The Arizona State Sun Devils (11-2) are one of the nation’s biggest surprises after they entered the season expected to be at the bottom of the Big 12.

While both teams like to use their ground game, Quinn Ewers and Sam Leavitt have answered the call. Here are the quarterbacks for each team in the Peach Bowl.

Quinn Ewers, the starting QB for Texas in the Peach Bowl game

Entering the season, Ewers was among the top NFL draft prospects. He has been inconsistent in 2024, and his draft stock cooled off a bit. However, Ewers is still among the top quarterbacks in college football when he is on. He’s also been good enough to keep Arch Manning on the bench this year.

The Southlake, Texas native finished the season with 2,867 passing yards, 26 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. Against the Clemson Tigers, he went 17-for-24 for 202 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Ewers suffered an ankle sprain in a game against Kentucky late in the season, but it didn’t seem to affect him against Clemson.

The junior quarterback could still declare for the NFL draft, although he hasn't detailed his plans for 2025.

Sam Leavitt, the starting QB for Arizona State in the Peach Bowl game

While Cam Skattebo gets most of the press, Leavitt has been a revelation in Tempe. The redshirt freshman has been accurate, completing 63% of his passes. He has thrown for 2,663 yards and 24 touchdowns but only five interceptions. He also ran for 383 yards and five scores.

Leavitt arrived at Arizona State after spending 2023 at Michigan State. He saw limited action with the Spartans before entering the transfer portal. His accuracy and ball protection could be vital for the Sun Devils as Texas boasts the second-best defense in the nation in total defense and points allowed.

Texas vs Arizona State: Head-to-head history

The Peach Bowl matchup between Texas and Arizona State will mark only the second time both teams have faced off against each other. The first meeting was a 52-34 Longhorns win in the 2007 Holiday Bowl.

This will be Texas’ first trip to the Peach Bowl, while Arizona is playing the game for the second time after defeating North Carolina in 1970.
