Texas is a 19-point favorite to defeat Vanderbilt, while the over/under is set at 53 points.
The Longhorns are coming off an upset loss to Georgia, as Texas was the No. 1 ranked team but was blown out. Texas trailed 23-0 at the half. Senior quarterback Quinn Ewers was even benched for a couple of snaps in favor of Arch Manning, who also struggled.
Despite being benched, Texas coach Steve Sarkisian still has full confidence in Ewers.
"We have confidence and belief in him,” Sarkisian said, via NBC Sports. “I think he’s going to come out and play really good football for us here in the second half of the season.”
Ewers has gone 103-for-151 for 1,101 yards, 11 touchdowns and four interceptions this season. Texas will look to get back on track against Vanderbilt, but despite the odds, Sarkisian is not taking them lightly.
"It's a heck of a challenge on the field, but it's obviously a challenge for us off the field too, from a mentality standpoint, coming off of the loss to Georgia last week," Sarkisian said during his press conference, via 247Sports.
"It's a good test for us as a team, from a maturity standpoint, how we respond to some of the adversity coming off of a loss, but also preparing for a very tough opponent."
Vanderbilt, meanwhile, has been one of the most surprising teams this season. The Commodores have already upset Alabama and Kentucky this season. Vanderbilt is led by quarterback Diego Paiva, who has 1,391 yards, 11 touchdowns and one interception. He has also run for 470 yards and three touchdowns.
The defense has also forced six interceptions, while Nicholas Rinaldi leads the way with three sacks.
This will be a good test for both teams as Texas finally played a notable opponent and struggled, so how they fare against Vanderbilt off the loss will be something to watch.
Quinn Ewers should be able to have success against Vanderbilt's defense, which has struggled this season. However, Vanderbilt will be able to keep it close. Meanwhile, Diego Paiva should be able to have success against Texas' defense, which struggled against Georgia last week.
Prediction: Texas 34, Vanderbilt 21
