The final weekend of the regular season is always filled with rivalry games. It also lines up with Thanksgiving, making it a great weekend for college football fans. Not only are there many exciting matchups to watch, but there are matchups with serious playoff implications.

Biggest Thanksgiving rivalry week games on the CFB calendar

While most college football games in the final week of the regular season should be exciting, some stand out more than others. These are a few of the top encounters on the schedule.

Memphis vs. Tulane

Although Memphis vs. No. 17-ranked Tulane is not the biggest rivalry showdown on paper, these are two games that play each other almost every year. Additionally, it is the only matchup on Thursday. So, fans interested in watching college football while eating Thanksgiving dinner will have this contest to look forward to.

This game will be broadcast on ESPN on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Texas vs. Texas A&M

The No. 3-ranked Texas vs. No. 20-ranked Texas A&M rivalry was one that featured a nearly annual game for over 100 years. However, the last of those matchups came in 2011 because Texas A&M moved to the Southeastern Conference. The two teams did not play for over a decade, but in 2024 it was announced that Texas would be joining the SEC, and the rivalry was reignited.

Not only is it reignited, but the matchup has huge playoff implications. Whichever team wins will play No. 7 Georgia in the SEC championship game. It is also a huge contest because, without a win, the Aggies will not be able to make the playoffs.

This game will be broadcast on ABC on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Auburn vs. Alabama

The Iron Bowl is always one of the most anticipated matchups on the college football calendar. However, this year it has bigger implications because the No. 13 Crimson Tide find themselves out of a playoff spot. Without a win against Auburn, they will miss the playoffs in shocking fashion.

This game will be broadcast on ABC on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET.

South Carolina vs. Clemson

When No. 15 South Carolina plays No. 12 Clemson, it is always an exciting matchup. These two schools compete in the Palmetto Series, which consists of more than a dozen athletic matchups every year.

This year, the football game has huge playoff implications. Both teams find themselves on the border of the playoffs. The team that wins will likely make it, and the team that loses will likely miss.

This game will be broadcast on ESPN on Saturday at 12 p.m. ET.

Kansas State vs. Iowa State

No. 24 Kansas State and No. 18 Iowa State compete in a football matchup every year. It is one of the longest-running series in college football history.

This year it has huge implications as Iowa State is trying to lock in a spot in the Big 12 championship game, whereas Kansas State is clinging to its small hopes of making the playoffs.

The game will be broadcast on Fox on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
