Kenny Dillingham's Arizona State Sun Devils were able to come from behind with a late fourth-quarter surge to force overtime against the Texas Longhorns in the College Football Playoff Quarterfinal at the Peach Bowl. The team was down 24-8 with 10 minutes remaining in regulation and tied it up before eventually falling in double-overtime 39-31.

Kenny Dillingham took to social media to further clarify his postgame comments where he took full responsibility for the loss.

" He (Xavion Alford) did exactly what we coached," Dillingham wrote. "That play is 100% on me not him, and I want to make that 100% clear. We would not have been in this position without "X" he was one of the intstrumental pieces to this season and program!"

The play in question was in overtime and Matthew Golden was able to secure a 28-yard touchdown, which wound up winning the game.

What does Kenny Dillingham's contract with Arizona State look like?

Even though the Arizona State Sun Devils have been eliminated from the College Football Playoff, coach Kenny Dillingham was rewarded for an outstanding season as he agreed to a new five-year contract with the school on Thursday night.

According to reports, the deal has the "pathway" to extend to 10 years, but due to the Arizona law limiting contracts for state schools to be a maximum of five years, it is labeled as a 5-year deal.

Speaking about how his relationship with his Alma Mater helped him achieve success, Dillingham said:

"The fit is so important. And me understanding the place here, I think it helped the fit and helped the transition because I just understand what the school and the city is about, and you're recruiting to the school. ... I think my knowledge of the place definitely helped." (via ESPN)

Arizona State has now become a national championship contender in just two seasons with Dillingham at the helm. It will be interesting to see how this program looks going forward as they add 20 more football scholarships to take the total number to 105 next season.
