Deion Sanders has carved a successful professional career in the NFL. He won two Super Bowls as a player and is now the coach of the Colorado Buffaloes. However, "Coach Prime" went through a lot of trials and tribulations before attaining glory.

During an appearance on the "All the Smoke Podcast" in April 2024, Coach Prime talked about his struggles with mental health and how he embarked on a spiritual journey. He opened up about how there was a point in his life where he wanted to kill himself.

"I was on the side of a highway tryna kill myself," Coach Prime said. "... You know darn right I did. I went through a phase that God was calling me collect. I ain't wanna accept the charges because I knew it was gonna cost me withdrawals. It was gonna cost me Delilah and Jezebel and Sue and Helen."

"Nobody knew. We was hiding! We him. Ain't nobody checking him. Cause he him. He the life of the party. He's the thing that keeps it going. He's him. He got it all together. And I'm sitting up here taking pills right in front of all these guys and they still don't see me. Cuz they saw Prime, man. They didn't see Deion crying out for help."

Deion Sanders also expressed his gratitude to his former attorney, Eugene Parker, for being his pillar of support through his mental health battles. He said Parker introduced him to Pastor David Forbes from Ohio, who helped him start his spiritual journey and healing.
