The college football season is nearly over as the semifinals are set to take place on Thursday and Friday.
The college football season saw plenty of upsets, but there were also some major injuries, which caused setbacks to players or teams. Here are the three most gut-wrenching injuries of the college football regular season.
Top 3 most gut-wrenching injuries of CFB regular season
#1, DJ Lagway, Florida
DJ Lagway took over as the Florida Gators' starting quarterback after Graham Mertz got injured. Lagway was a star from the get-go and helped turn around Florida's season.
However, Lagway was carted off with an injury against the Georgia Bulldogs. Before his injury, Florida was playing Georgia well and looked to be on track to upset Georgia, which would've changed the entire Southeastern Conference landscape.
Ultimately, Lagway returned this season, ending the year with 115-for-192 for 1,915 yards, 12 touchdowns and nine interceptions.
#2, Nic Anderson, Oklahoma
The Oklahoma Sooners became an SEC team in 2024, and unfortunately, the Sooners were without their top receiver all season.
Anderson was a breakout star as a freshman in 2023 as he recorded 38 receptions for 798 yards and 10 touchdowns. He was set to be a big part of the Sooners offense in 2024.
However, in fall camp, he suffered a hamstring injury that hindered him all season as he never played in a game. The Sooners' offense was terrible without him as Oklahoma went 6-7 this year, as the Sooners' leading receiver finished with 324 yards.
Anderson also transferred to LSU after the end of the season.
#3, Charles Jagusah, Notre Dame
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish lost starting left tackle Joe Alt to the NFL, and Charles Jagusah was set to replace him.
Jagusah had a lot of praise entering camp, but in practice before the season, the left tackle tore his pec and was ruled out for the entire season.
Losing Jagusah was a tough blow to the offensive line, but Notre Dame was able to fill the role well as the Fighting Irish are in the semifinals.
