Top 5 player for No. 1 in 2025 NFL Draft

Caleb Williams going No. 1 in the 2024 NFL draft was never in doubt, as the quarterback has been projected as this year's first overall pick since he won the Heisman Trophy in 2022.

However, the potential first-overall pick for the 2025 NFL draft is uncertain at the moment. Several analysts have made different suggestions throughout the 2023 college football season, but none seem to have a notable edge over the others.

We take a look at five players who look like early candidates to be selected as the No. 1 pick in 2025.

5 players who could go No. 1 in the 2025 NFL Draft

#1 Shedeur Sanders, QB, Colorado

Shedeur Sanders has been fantastic since arriving at the Football Bowl Subdivision. The quarterback was phenomenal with Colorado in 2023, despite the struggles of the program.

He threw for 3,230 passing yards and 27 touchdowns last season. Leading the Buffaloes to a successful season in 2024 with an astonishing performance could land him the No. 1 pick.

#2 Carson Beck, QB, Georgia

Carson Beck became Georgia's starting quarterback in the 2023 college football season after two years as a backup. He's shown he is a capable replacement for Stetson Bennett.

Beck threw for 3,941 yards and 24 touchdowns last season and earned second-team All-SEC honors. Putting out better outings in 2024 would make him a candidate for the 2025 No. 1 pick.

#3 Travis Hunter, CB, Colorado

Travis Hunter was the highest-rated recruit in his class. The cornerback/wide receiver surprisingly decided to play in the Football Championship Subdivision under coach Deion Sanders at Jackson State.

He also followed "Coach Prime" to Colorado, where he had an amazing 2023 season, earning a consensus All-American honor. The two-way has a good chance of being the No. 1 pick in 2025.

#4 Jalen Milroe, QB, Alabama

Jalen Milroe started his tenure as Alabama's starting quarterback with significant struggles in 2023. However, the 6-foot-2 signal-caller rose to the situation as the season progressed.

Being a dual-threat quarterback, many teams will admire the possibility of having a Lamar Jackson kind of field general on their roster. This could elevate Milroe to the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft.

#5 Quinn Ewers, QB, Texas

Quinn Ewers seems to have found his feet at Texas. The quarterback was the highest-rated recruit in the class of 2022 but failed to secure the starting spot at Ohio State.

In the upcoming season, Ewers will return as the Longhorns' starting quarterback for the third year after recording 3,479 passing yards and 22 touchdowns in 2023. A good outing in 2024 could make him the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft.
