Week 3 of the college football season is set to kick off on Thursday. Week 3 only features two matchups between ranked teams as on paper it doesn't look like the best slate.
Top 5 college football QBs to watch out for in Week 3
#1, Quinn Ewers, Texas
Quinn Ewers and the Texas Longhorns went into the "Big House" and blew out the Michigan Wolverines in Week 2.
The Longhorns will host UTSA on Saturday in a game where Texas is a 34.5-point favorite and Ewers should be able to dazzle in Week 3.
After Ewers' performance against Michigan, he is the Heisman favorite at +600.
#2, DJ Lagway, Florida
DJ Lagway is a freshman who started Florida's Week 2 game and had success as he threw for 456 yards and three touchdowns. Lagway broke the school's freshman record for passing yards as he topped Chris Leak's mark of 268 set in 2003 against Kentucky.
It was a great performance from the No. 1 quarterback in the class of 2024. But in Week 3, Florida will play Texas A&M at home so how he fares against the Aggies defense will be telling.
If Lagway finds success against Texas A&M, his and Florida's hype will be through the roof.
#3, Cam Ward, Miami
Cam Ward transferred to Miami and is proving that he is the real deal, as the Hurricanes are the favorites to win the ACC.
Ward also has the third-best odds of winning the Heisman trophy at +800. Miami is hosting Ball State in Week 3 in what should be another game where he puts up insane numbers and gives Hurricanes fans hope that the U is back.
#4, Nico Iamaleava, Tennessee
Nico Iamaleava is a freshman starting QB and has lived up to the hype. He has led the Tennessee Volunteers to a 2-0 start and are coming off a blowout win over NC State.
Iamaleava has shown patience in the pocket and his ability to run. He has the seventh-best odds of winning the Heisman in 2024.
Tennessee hosts Kent State in Week 3 in a game Iamaleava should be able to dominate again.
#5, Riley Leonard, Notre Dame
Riley Leonard transferred from Duke to Notre Dame and he has not played well in the first two games.
Leonard has yet to throw for a passing touchdown and was disappointing in Notre Dame's upset loss to Northern Illinois.
The Fighting Irish will go on the road to play Purdue and Leonard needs to be much better if Notre Dame wants to avoid another upset.
