The Rate Bowl is getting ready to happen in a few hours as the Kansas State Wildcats and the Rutgers Scarlet Knights battle it out. However, there are going to be some significant players not playing as they are currently in the NCAA Transfer Portal.
While some players won't feature, there is the possibility that some on this list may decide to play one final game with the Kansas State Wildcats. Let's take a deeper dive into the transfer portal and discuss the impact they will have by leaving the team.
Top Kansas State players currently in Transfer Portal
Tre Spivey, WR
Freshman wide receiver Tre Spivey has shown the ability to step up and play well in the Wildcats' offense. During the 2024 season, the redshirt freshman recorded 14 catches for 160 yards (11.4 yards per reception) with a receiving touchdown.
Spivey is not the main target in the Kansas State offense, but losing him is a tough pill to swallow as he is a star in the making.
Nickendre Stiger, S
Safety Nickendre Stiger entered the NCAA Transfer Portal and it appears that one reason for that is the lack of playing time. He had nine total tackles (seven solo, two assisted) and added a pass deflection as well.
Losing secondary members is always critical but losing a solid tackler like Stiger at the safety position is going to be tough to overcome.
Keagan Johnson, WR
Junior wide receiver Keagan Johnson has been a significant factor in Kansas State's offense and his entering the NCAA Transfer Portal is a massive factor.
On the season, he has 29 receptions for 359 yards (12.4 yards per catch) with one touchdown reception as well as an eight-yard carry. As one of the key wide receivers on the team, his loss could be massive going forward.
Carver Willis, OT
Offensive tackle Carver Willis is a solid offensive lineman who can help protect the edge of the Wildcats' offensive line. He has shown the capabilities to step up, as in 2023, Willis was a big factor for making the offensive line the semifinalist for the Joe Moore Award.
Missing him in this game could make things tough on protecting the quarterback and giving time for the running backs to find holes to work with.
Jordan Dunbar, CB
Junior cornerback Jordan Dunbar is another Wildcat player who has found himself in the NCAA Transfer Portal. He did not play in the 2023 season and only played in a few games this season as he had recorded three total tackles (two solo, one assisted) with a pass deflection as well. Dunbar has shown the ability to play well in his first two college football seasons.
