Competitiveness in the SEC enters a whole new level in the 2024 college football season. The duo of Texas and Oklahoma, the two most successful programs in the Big 12, have been added to the conference, further augmenting the excitement.

#1. Georgia at Alabama
Georgia and Alabama open their conference schedule in the 2024 season with a rematch of the 2023 SEC championship game. The Crimson Tide welcomes the Bulldogs on Sept. 28.
This will be the first time both programs are meeting after Nick Saban's retirement, ending the Saban-Smart rivalry. Nonetheless, there's a lot of anticipation around the matchup. Alabama has won eight of the last nine encounters and leads the series with a 43-26-4 record.
#2. Georgia at Texas
Texas gets to know what it means to compete in the SEC in a matchup like this next season. The Longhorns will host Georgia in Austin in a highly anticipated game on Oct. 19.
The two programs are considered contenders for the national championship next season in the expanded College Football Playoff and the outcome could have some impact. The Longhorns are 4-1 against the Bulldogs, and their only meeting in the last four decades was in 2018.

The in-state rivalry between Texas and Texas A&M is set to be revived in the 2024 season after halting for more than a decade. The Longhorns’ SEC move has ensured its revival.
The Aggies welcome the Longhorns to College Station on Nov. 30 in one of the oldest rivalries in college football. The series was played annually from 1915 to 2011 before Texas A&M departed the Big 12 and it will once be played every year. Texas leads the series with a 76-37-5 record.
