Six weeks of the college football season have gone, and even some of the best teams in the country are no longer undefeated.
Teams like Alabama and Tennessee, which were previously unbeaten, had their first losses of the season on Saturday, but there are still some great teams with undefeated records.
Top five undefeated teams after week 6
After six weeks, many of the top teams in the AP Top 25 Poll are no longer undefeated. Even one of the top five-ranked teams, Georgia, has a loss on its record, but there are a few unbeaten ones:
#1 Texas
Texas (5-0) had an open week last week but is riding a five-game winning streak to start the season.
The Longhorns have continued to succeed despite losing Heisman Trophy-contending quarterback Quinn Ewers in week 3 to an injury. Backup quarterback Arch Manning has stepped up to deliver some impressive performances.
Fortunately for the Longhorns, Ewers is expected to return on Saturday when they face the No.-18 ranked Oklahoma Sooners. Regardless of who's throwing the football, the Longhorns always seem to win.
#2 Ohio State
Ohio State (5-0) is coming off a 35-7 victory over Iowa and hasn't lost yet this season. The team remains unbeaten largely thanks to its defense.
Through five games, the Buckeyes have allowed 34 points and had a shutout win in week 2 over WMU. However, they will have their first big test of the season on Saturday against No. 3-ranked Oregon.
#3 Oregon
Oregon (5-0)'s path to an undefeated record hasn't been without close calls. Notably, the Ducks narrowly beat No.-17 ranked Boise State 37-34 in week 2.
However, since then, the Ducks have continued to put up consistent performances. That consistency will be put to the test this week against No. 2-ranked Ohio State, though.
#4 Penn State
Penn State (5-0) is coming off a 27-11 win over UCLA and has taken advantage of other teams (Alabama and Tennessee) losing to enter the top 5.
The Nittany Lions haven't been tested against a ranked opponent and will not before Nov. 2 against Ohio State. This Saturday, they face USC in a B1G matchup.
#5 Miami
Miami (6-0) is only ranked sixth in the nation but is undefeated, unlike No. 5-ranked Georgia (4-1). The Hurricanes have continued to exceed expectations but had two close calls in recent weeks.
They narrowly defeated Virginia Tech 38-34 two weeks ago and edged out California 39-38 last Saturday. They have an open week this week before facing Louisville next week.
