EA Sports College Football 25 made its highly anticipated worldwide release on July 19. While the newest college football game is made by the same company that makes the Madden NFL video games, it has a different overall feel.
The gameplay is much quicker to match the real-life pace of college football. The game also includes new features such as a new kick meter, wear and tear system and revamped passing.
The new feel to the gameplay will take players some time to adjust to. Here are five ways you can improve your skills in EA Sports' new college football game.
Top 5 ways to improve your skills in EA Sports College Football 25
#1, Utilize practice mode
EA Sports College Football 25 offers a practice mode that players can use to refine their skills without playing a live game. You can select whether you want to practice offense or defense in practice mode and choose a team to better learn the playbook.
You can also choose whether or not you'd like to have defenders on the field during your practice. This will allow you to try out plays without worrying about defensive coverages. Or you can opt to select what coverage the defense runs and figure out strategies to beat that particular coverage.
This will be the easiest way for you to try out new plays or different passing styles to see which works best for you.
#2, Learn how to use the switch stick
The switch stick is a new feature that has been added on the defensive side of the ball for players in College Football 25. This could be a revolutionary new feature that changes the way you play in coverage.
The switch stick allows you to quickly move from player to player on defense. A flick of the right stick toward the defender you want to control will switch you to that defender. This will offer you a higher chance to make a user play on the ball, which increases your chances of hauling in an interception.
If you learn to master the switch stick, it will be hard for opposing teams to get into the endzone against you.
#3, Try mini-games
EA Sports College Football 25 features many types of practice mini-games that offer a fun way to improve your skills in different aspects of the game. There are mini-games that will put you on offense, defense and special teams to improve your skills in all three phases of the game.
If you are looking to improve your passing skills, you can try out mini-games such as pocket presence, target passing and scramble survive. Rushing attack and option attack will allow you to get a better feel for controlling ball carriers as well as learning the best way to run the option. Mastering the option will give you a massive advantage on offense, as it is utilized by many schools.
There are mini-games for practicing punts and field goals, as well as trench battles if you are looking to improve your block-shedding skills. DB Battle will allow you to refine your coverage skills as you match up one-on-one with a wide receiver and attempt to prevent him from catching passes.
#4, Become familiar with different abilities
Abilities are a new feature that has been added to College Football 25 and can maximize the effectiveness of your players if you learn how to best utilize them. There are 80 abilities, and they are split into two categories with four tiers.
The abilities are split into two categories for each player: mental and physical. Each player qualifies for different types of abilities based on their archetype and position.
Each ability is then divided into four tiers: bronze, silver, gold and platinum. The different tier levels allow for more effective outcomes when these abilities are in effect.
If you are familiar with the best abilities in the game and how to maximize their effectiveness, that will allow you to take full advantage of your team's top players.
#5, Practice the new kick meter
Many real-life football games often come down to a kicker's ability to hit field goals in clutch moments. College Football 25 adds a new kick meter that many players have found to be far more challenging than the meters from previous games.
Practicing the kick meter and seeing how to correctly line up a kick and maximize its power could be the difference between winning and losing. You can head to open practice to learn the new kicking meter and see how it works.
Once you have a handle on the basics of the new kicking meter, you can put your skills to the test in the field-goal accuracy mini-game.
After mastering the new kick meter in open practice and mini-games, you'll be ready to knock down field goals in a live game.
