Travis Hunter is the favorite for the 2024 Heisman Trophy. The Colorado Buffaloes two-way star has been impeccable in the 2024 college football season, and he's on the cusp of winning the most coveted individual prize in all of college football.

Speaking to Ryan Clark of the Pivot Podcast in an episode released Tuesday, Hunter shared what he'd do once he picks up the award.

"I still don't know what I mean. I just know I did it for my family, you know," Hunter said. "Did it for all the players and all the coaches that can come in and out my life, you know? And I did it for myself.
"Most importantly, I mean, I remember me and my cousin playing NCAA 10. We out there putting our players on Oregon. That was our favorite team. They had all the best uniforms back in the day. We out there. I'm at receiver, he had quarterback. We both in the Heisman race at the time. I didn't know what that meant, but now I understand, like, that's the best, that's the best player in the world in college football that year, and it's gonna mean so much to me.
"I know imma break down and cry after, you know, everybody goes away because I'm trying to act tough in front of everybody. But for my family, it's gonna mean so much. I'm the first to go to college, first to, you know, get to the NFL, and. Be able to take care of my family for the rest of my life." (14:12)

Hunter is up against Boise State Broncos running back Ashton Jeanty, Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cameron Ward and Oregon Ducks quarterback Dillon Gabriel for the prestigious award.

Travis Hunter took college football by storm in 2024

While the players listed above had stellar seasons, none did it as Travis Hunter did in 2024. The Colorado Buffaloes star redefined what it meant to excel at the highest level of collegiate football.

Hunter played almost every snap on defense and offense and did things that can only be replicated in video games. The Heisman frontrunner regularly locked up an opposing team's best wide receiver and then proceeded to moss their best defensive back.

Hunter played offense and defense at an award-winning level and was crucial in the Colorado Buffaloes' 9-3 regular-season record. He was a matchup nightmare for opposing sides.

In 12 regular-season games in 2024, Hunter caught 92 passes for 1,152 yards and 14 touchdowns. He also recorded 31 tackles, 11 pass breakups, four interceptions, and one forced fumble.

Will Travis Hunter play both ways in the NFL?

Travis Hunter excelled at wide receiver and cornerback positions throughout his collegiate football career. However, the question on most people's lips is whether he can replicate the feat in the National Football League.

Some analysts believe he can, especially in the age of high-level analytics and protection afforded to the best players. However, many former players doubt Hunter's ability to become the league's first two-way superstar player.

With the Colorado Buffaloes set to round off their season in the bowl game, we are just a couple of months away from discovering whether Hunter can play both ways in the league.
